Genre analysis in bakhtinian theory: some theoretical and methodological issues

Resumo: | After the 1990s one witnessed a significant increase in the number of research works on genres in the field of Applied Linguistics, which were favored by the consolidation of the change in the subject matter of the teaching and learning of languages, both native and foreign. In Brazil, as in other countries, Bakhtinian theoretical conceptions have gained relevance and been increasingly cited in a number of such research publications. However, many times presenting diverse effects of appropriation and interpretation. Here some theoretical and methodological issues in the genre analysis are discussed under the Bakhtinian perspective. The concept of genre and its relation to other central concepts, as ideology, enunciation, text, discourse, and language are approached. In the methodological issues the relation between the researcher and the data, the methodological “order” in the study of genres, and the use of previous analytical categories in the study of a specific genre are discussed. |

En Brasil y en otros paises, las concepciones teóricas de Bakhtin tiene sido retomadas y citadas por muchas de esas investigaciones, mas muchas veces, con efectos de interpretación diversos. En este trabajo, se tiene por objetivo discutir algunas cuestiones teóricas y metodológicas en el análise de los géneros del discurso a partir de las concepciones teóricas de Bakhtin. Se aborda la concepción de género y su relación con otros conceptos centrales tales como ideología, enunciado, texto, discurso y lengua. En las cuestiones metodológicas, se problematizan la relación del investigador con los datos, la” orden “ metodologías, en el estudio de los géneros y el uso de categorías previas de análise en el estudio de un determinado género.Après les années 90, on a remarqué une augmentation significative dans les recherches autour des genres du discours dans le domaine de la Linguistique Apliquée, poussées par la consolidation du changement de l’objet de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage de langues (maternelle et étrangère). Au Brésil et dans d’autres pays, les conceptions théoriques de Bakhtin furent reprises et citées dans d’innombrables recherches, mais, plusieurs fois, avec des effets d’interprétation et d’apropriation divers. Dans ce travail, on a l’objectif de discuter quelques questions théoriques et méthodologiques des genres du discours à partir des conceptions théoriques de Bakhtin. On en vient à la conception de genre et à sa relation avec d’autres concepts centraux, tels que l’idéologie, l’énoncé, le texte, le discours et la langue. Dans les questions méthodologiques, on en vient à la relation du chercheur avec les données, l’“ordre” méthodologique dans l’étude des genres et son emploi des catégories préalables de l’analyse dans l’étude d’un genre déterminé.Após a década de noventa, vimos o aumento significativo das pesquisas em torno dos gêneros do discurso na área da Lingüística Aplicada, impulsionadas pela consolidação da mudança do objeto de ensino e de aprendizagem de línguas (materna e estrangeira). No Brasil e em outros países, as concepções teóricas de Bakhtin têm sido retomadas e citadas por muitas dessa pesquisas, mas, muitas vezes, com efeitos de interpretação e apropriação diversos. Neste trabalho, tem-se por objetivo discutir algumas questões teóricas e metodológicas na análise dos gêneros do discurso a partir das concepções teóricas de Bakhtin. Aborda-se a concepção de gênero e sua relação com outros conceitos centrais, tais como ideologia, enunciado, texto, discurso e língua.
