Resumo: This article deals with the expanded version of the opening conference of the 8th SIMFOP (Symposium on Teacher Training in Portuguese acronym), focusing on the 20 years of the Law on Guidelines and Bases of National Education. In this work, the focus is on the normative limits and the challenges in Basic Education in the current political and social context of Brazil. The conference was held on November 7th, 2016 at UNISUL headquarters in campus Tubarão-SC.

Su temática central son los 20 años de la Ley de Directrices y Bases de la Educación Nacional. El foco de este trabajo es sobre sus límites normativos y los desafíos de la Educación Básica en la actual coyuntura política y social de Brasil. La conferencia fue realizada en 7 de noviembre de 2016 en el campus sede de UNISUL, Tubarão-SC.Trata o referido artigo da versão ampliada da conferência de abertura do VIII SIMFOP (Simpósio sobre Formação de Professores), tendo como temática central os 20 anos da Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional.
