Resumo: Purpose: Compare unfavorable obstetric outcomes between Brazilian and Haitian black populations. Methods: This is an observational cross-sectional cohort study covering a sample of 662 women, self-declared black, with a single pregnancy, 48.9% Brazilian and 51.1% Haitian, who had their babies between 04/01/2019 and 12/31/2021 at Darcy Vargas Maternity. Results: Unfavorable gestational outcomes, both maternal and fetal, were analyzed. In the evaluation of fetal outcomes, there was a significant difference when comparing mean birth weight (Brazilian black women 3,148.7 kg vs Haitian black women 3,077.0 kg, p<0.05). There was no difference in the other variables studied, but it is possible to notice a tendency towards significance due to a higher prevalence of unfavorable outcomes in black Haitian pregnant women. Conclusion: When comparing obstetric outcomes, lower fetal weight was found among black Haitian pregnant women, in addition to the trend of other unfavorable outcomes in this same population.
