In order to recognize the complexity of the social determinants of life and health of trans people, it is necessary to implement public policies that reduce stigma and contribute to the health-disease process. The purpose of this article is to analyze the pathologization of gender in the process of human rights violations of the transsexual population in the care provided by the Unified Health System in Brazil. The research under review was predominantly carried out under a bibliographic approach, by bringing discussions of books and specialized scientific articles, between the years 2003 and 2018, and researching the keywords in article indexers. The results obtained in this research point to the systematic violation of human and social rights due to the standardized expressions of masculinity and femininity in the diagnosis of transsexuality by SUS health professionals. Still, it refers to the necessary questioning of hegemonic moral values that permeate the very search for social justice of the transsexual population that sustains diversity as a social value to be preserved in the face of human rights violations to which they are subjected due to sexuality and the performances of gender in the Unified Health System.
