EXTRACTIVISM AND COMMUNICATION FOR DEVELOPMENT: THE CASE OF BABASSU COCONUT BREAKERS

Resumo: | This article aims to present the communication processes in babassu extractivism. Regarding methodology, the research is characterized as bibliographic and qualitative. Some authors used in the theoretical framework are Peruzzo (2006), Silva (2014) e Barbosa (2018). We present the concept and typology of extractivism. We address babassu extractivism as an essential activity for the development of brazilian extractive communities. We highlight the socio-environmental role of women coconut breakers.We discuss popular communication as a relevant factor for women babassu coconut breakers and their interaction with Information and Communication Technologies. We conclude that popular communication is present in the movement of babassu coconut breakers, and that these women use technologies to communicate among themselves and with the outside community. |

O presente artigo objetiva apresentar os processos comunicacionais no extrativismo do babaçu. Em relação a metodologia, a pesquisa caracteriza-se como bibliográfica e qualitativa. Alguns autores utilizados para a fundamentação do trabalho são Peruzzo (2006), Silva (2014) e Barbosa (2018). Apresentamos o conceito e tipologia do extrativismo. Abordamos o extrativismo do babaçu como uma atividade essencial para o desenvolvimento de comunidades extrativistas brasileiras. Destacamos a função socioambiental das quebradeiras de coco. Discorremos acerca do movimento social das quebradeiras, da comunicação comunitária como um fator relevante para esses grupos e da interação dessas mulheres com as Tecnologias de Comunicação e Informação.
