STRATEGIC MANAGEMENTE IN SMALL TECNOLOGY-BASED COMPANIES

Resumo: Objective with this study is to analyze the design strategy of small businesses in the metropolitan region of the Paraí­ba Valley and North Coast and compare the data collected with the theory of Institutional Based View. The basis of the study was developed from descriptive qualitative research and individual interviews with owner-managers through semi-structured and flexible script analyzed and supported under the theoretical framework of organizational strategy and the theory of IBV. The construction of knowledge was defined by narrative techniques and visual mapping with investigative aim of understanding the strategy of training. According to the analysis obtained, small technology-based companies presented in its strategy the elements of organizational tripod defined by IBV theory was more prevalent in each one or the other forming element. The preponderance of one of the forming elements of the strategy was related to the characteristics of the owner-manager and the reality in which the company was at the time of structuring the organizational strategy. But in constituent analysis of the strategy in all companies was identified elements of industrial competitiveness, resources and organizational capabilities and formal and informal institutions included in the theory of institutional based view.

A base do estudo foi desenvolvida a partir de pesquisa qualitativa descritiva e entrevista individual com os proprietários-dirigentes, por meio de roteiro semiestruturado e flexí­vel analisada e amparada sob o referencial teórico da estratégia organizacional e a teoria da IBV. A construção do conhecimento foi definida por técnicas de narrativa e visual mapping com intuito investigatório de compreensão na formação de estratégia. De acordo com as análises obtidas, as pequenas empresas de base tecnológica apresentaram em sua estratégia os elementos do tripé organizacional definido pela teoria do IBV, preponderando em cada uma delas um ou outro elemento formador. A preponderância por um dos elementos formadores da estratégica foi relacionada com as caracterí­sticas do proprietário-dirigente e a realidade em que a empresa se encontrava no momento da estruturação da estratégia organizacional.
