Resumo: | The aim of this article is to problematize some concepts which are used in the studies on regional development from the perspective of the latin american social thought. The question we intend to answer is: how do the concepts of region and development come to mean the knowledge and the historical experiences in what we now call Latin America? Is it possible to redefine them with the help of the latin american social thought? We assume that these concepts bring meanings and experiences of other spaces and times that are imposed on our spaces and times. However it must be considered that concepts are also loaded with meanings and they may be used to recover what has been denied. In order to do so we seek to recover in the social thought and in the constitution of the social sciences in Latin America elements of this localized knowledge that can contribute to the expansion of meanings and experiences of what we now call region and development. |
