Resumo: This study aims to discuss indicatives of the causes of climate variability and climate change, involving changes in social, economic, environmental and political grounds, highlighting some theoretical contributions on this topic for assistance in its preparation. There are controversial mainly in academics and in the sources of information about global warming (a climate change) of anthropogenic origin, as the IPCC claims. This assumption has the other side, with positions searching to show that, for example, the nature produces more carbon dioxide than the human activities. Establish considerations on climate change requires an geosystem approach, due to the weather quest for a state of dynamic equilibrium. Therefore, this balance varies in their condition over time, due to various natural causes or otherwise, resulting from the internal dynamics of the Earth itself, as well as factors external to the planet. As methodology, besides the theoretical foundation on these topics will also be analyzed to paleoclimatology and their dating techniques of weather and climate past, such as ice cylinders, tree rings, among others, seeking to create comparisons with the current situations, identifying the origins of its factors, and how the natural internal activities (such as volcanism) or external alter the Earth's climate

Há polêmicas principalmente no meio acadêmico e de informação a respeito do aquecimento global (uma mudança climática) de origem antropogênica, como afirma o IPCC. Essa suposição tem o outro lado, com posições buscando indicar que, por exemplo, a natureza produz mais dióxido de carbono que as atividades antropogênicas. Estabelecer considerações sobre mudanças climáticas implica uma abordagem teórico-metodológica geossistêmica, em razão de que o sistema busca por um estado de equilíbrio dinâmico. Portanto, este equilíbrio apresenta variações em suas condições ao longo do tempo, em função de diversas causas naturais ou antrópicas, resultantes da dinâmica interna da própria Terra, bem como de fatores externos ao planeta.
