There is an important lack of communication between the centers of production of science and technology (S&T) and the public. This occurs not only in Brazil, but here this fact is even more intense. Science dissemination rarely occupies a significant place in the media, usually covering spectacular events such as cloning, the scientific explanation of earthquakes (after they occur), etc. In part, this is due to misperception of the media that the public has no interest in issues related to the universe of the science and partly by the lack of scientific background of good part of journalists. Overall, does not exist by the producers of S&T centers, with some exceptions, a dissemination system aiming to democratize knowledge, making scientific information accessible to non-specialist audience. This is a serious flaw in our country since almost all the S&T system is funded by the state and therefore kept by the taxpayer. Thus, journalists and researchers should work hand in hand to improve this situation. Disseminate correctly and regularly knowledge coming from science is one of the antidotes against disinformation and obscurantism. Making media mass update agents on what is new in the S&T universe should become a priority activity for both University and Press.
