Resumo: | Solid-state methods include friction welding, which is widely used when good mechanical properties are required at the joint. This is due to the lower thermal input and, consequently, lower thermally affected zone. The heat generated by the friction of the surfaces at high rotation causes the material to lose mechanical resistance and to drain in the radial direction, thus causing forging. However, the bond occurs at a temperature below the melting point, therefore, the thermally affected zone has reduced size and less problems caused by phases that compromise the resistance of the welded joint. Most of the parameters used in this process are obtained empirically, since the determination of parameters by analytical means becomes very complex due to the differential nature of the behaviors of the physical quantities involved. Using the finite element method (MEF) it is possible to obtain an approximate solution of the behavior of the friction welding. Using MEF in a computational environment, in some conditions the models could be simulated, presenting parameters that were later used in the tests and behavior very close to the one seen in theory. Moreover, the use of the parameters obtained by the MEF in the tests made it possible to increase their accuracy |
