Saliva is an essential substance for maintenance of oral health, presenting multiple functions in oral and pharyngeal environment. In patients with removable dentures, it is believed that there is an increase of salivary flow rate. However, this mechanism is still unknown in patients using implant supported prostheses. Furthermore, it is known that patients rehabilitated with intraoral prosthesis tend to present improvements in psychosocial aspect, especially in relation to anxiety. The aim of this study was to verify, through questionnaires, if the installation of implant supported prostheses influence the salivary flow and anxiety of its users, and if anxiety is related to the amount of saliva. Assessments of salivary flow and level of anxiety of were observed, respectively, through the form Visual Analogue Scales about xerostomia and through the Stait Trait Anxiety Inventory. Their application was performed before and after 2 days and 3 weeks of prosthesis installation. The study included patients rehabilitated with 3 or more dental elements through implant supported prostheses. Data were submitted to statistical analysis. From the results obtained it was concluded that the prosthetic implantorretidas provided no improvement in the feeling of oral dryness. Over the periods, the sensation of oral dryness subtly increased. Anxiety can directly influence the sensation of dry mouth
