Resumo: Due to environmental issues currently faced, companies and individuals look for sustainable alternatives for industrial and daily activities. An example of these activities is the reuse of residuals of materials in other processes to avoid waste, and the use of wood residuals to obtain pellets, a product with high aggregated value because it produces clean energy. Based on this, the present study aimed to develop a systematic study on the use of wood residues from Pinus sp species from the machining processes performed in wood industries, as well as planning processes in the form of wood shavings for the production pellets. Initially it is present in this paper a bibliographic review of the theoretical and technological aspects of issues relating to the theme. Some themes were discussed as definition of shavings, the production process of this product and the equipment used for the same, the definition of pellets, the international market for this product, the pallet's physical and chemical properties, quality standards, the pellet production process and machinery used. After that, the production processes for both cases were analyzed and discussed, the production of pellets from wood shavings and from waste, presenting the advantages and disadvantages in relation to economic and environmental aspects

E um exemplo destas medidas é a reutilização de resíduos em outros processos para evitar o desperdício, como a utilização de resíduos madeireiros para obtenção de pellets, produto com grande valor agregado, pois produz energia limpa. Com base nisso, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo desenvolver um estudo sistematizado sobre o aproveitamento de resíduos da madeira do gênero Pinus sp proveniente dos processos de usinagem realizados em indústrias madeireiras, bem como de processos de aplainamento, na forma de maravalha, para a produção de pellets. No qual, inicialmente, se apresenta neste trabalho uma revisão bibliográfica sobre os aspectos teóricos e tecnológicos dos assuntos relativos ao tema proposto, e na sequência, a definição de maravalha, o processo produtivo deste produto e os equipamentos utilizados para o mesmo, a definição de pellets, o mercado internacional deste produto, suas propriedades físico-químicas, as normas de qualidade, o processo de produção de pellets e os maquinários utilizados.
