Resumo: This study it describes, in form of literature review, the main contributions of studies related to the wood pellets use as renewable power plant. The advantages of this material can conveniently be explained by means of its economic and mainly ambient characteristics. These analyses, in accord with the knowledge of the processes of production, calorific power, chemical analyses and market, constitute important recital for the future research related to the otimization and reinforcement of its use as clean energy in Brazil and, over all, as product of exportation to the European countries where the product well is known and has a steady market. Brazil has enormous potential to become leader in offers of wood pellets for exportation
