Prevalência de alterações bucais em bebês de 0 a 36 meses da bebê clínica da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba - Unesp

The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of oral alterations in babies from 0 to 36 months of the Baby Clinic, Faculty of Dentistry of Araçatuba - UNESP, and its distribution according to the type, age and sex, in the period from January 2007 to December 2013. A total of 1492 records of babies, with 801 males and 691 females were analyzed. Only in 196 (13.13%) of them, it had a record of any alterations. It was recorded 20 types of alterations and, in some cases, there was a record of more than one alteration in the same child, but at different times, which were divided according to their clinical characteristics, into five groups: gum disease, oral diseases and dental, developmental and eruption alterations. The results showed a higher incidence of labial frenulum and Bohn nodule, both with 2.3%. According to gender, it was observed that the tooth fused occurred more frequently in females (0.86%) and the ankyloglossia was more prevalent in males with 1.24%. The other alterations appeared equivalents. In terms of age, there was a statistical difference between the ranges 0 to 6 months and 7-12 months at 6.84% and 4.21% respectively. Therefore, based on the obtained data, we conclude that the occurrence of oral abnormalities in babies is low (13.13%), prevailing in the age group 0-6 months and it is unrelated to the gender
