Prevenção e promoção de saúde na primeira infância: Creche Santa Clara de Assis

Preventive dentistry is growing gradually in recent years, with the right to eliminate the only curative thought which refers only to the oral cavity, forgetting all the other factors that contribute to overall health, covering all aspects. The work of health promotion and disease prevention prevents occur in the same manner that can identify diseases, contributing to decrease the incidence thereof. The project called Happy Child is already done since 2012 in Day Care Center Saint Claire of Assis. The completion of the work was to evaluate the oral health status of children participating in the project Happy Child. The project carries out recreational and educational activities with children, clinical and supervised cleaning, in addition to collecting data on the main pathologies found. This work covers the period from February 2015 to March 2016, where the 170 children enrolled in day care Saint Claire of Assis, 100% participated in the project by making a data collection on white stain, decay, open bite and crossbite. After collecting the data it was found that 12.94% of children had carious lesions, 7.06% were affected by white spot, 4.12% cross-bite, and the highest percentage found was open bite, reaching an incidence of 15.29%. Analyzing the data and the development of activities, it is concluded that the extension project has achieved success because caries and white spot rates are low, demonstrating the importance of prevention work carried out by FOA-Unesp for the improvement of oral health children
