Resumo: The objective of this study was to conduct a literature review, looking for items that could support the use of porcelain veneers in aesthetic rehabilitation of the smile, and present a clinical case, describing the process related to this treatment modality. Among the various treatment options with aesthetic purposes, porcelain veneers stand out because they require less consumption of the dental structures when compared to crowns, which were for many years the most predictable and lasting aesthetic correction for anterior teeth, but whose preparation is very invasive and could harm the pulp and periodontium. However, because it is a relatively recent technique, with a limited number of clinical studies of long-term follow, the selection of cases should be careful. Could concluded that the correct diagnosis and planning of the case, together with the knowledge of materials and the mastery of the technique, make use of porcelain veneers an effective and safe alternative for solving aesthetic problems in anterior teeth

Entre as várias opções de tratamento com finalidades estéticas, as facetas de porcelana se destacam por necessitarem um menor desgaste das estruturas dentárias quando comparadas às coroas totais, que foram por muitos anos a mais previsível e durável correção estética para dentes anteriores, mas cujo preparo é muito invasivo, podendo prejudicar a polpa e o periodonto. Porém, por se tratar de uma técnica relativamente recente, com um limitado número de estudos clínicos de acompanhamento em longo prazo, a seleção dos casos deve ser criteriosa.
