Resumo: | Menopause is a period in which women often go through between 40 and 55 years old. During this stage many symptoms and ailments of hormonal, psychological and social nature difficult and impair the quality of life of going through such a period. Many of the symptoms associated with menopause have their origin much more related to psychological difficulties than dysfunctions and how the woman will live and face this moment can be decisive for how these symptoms will affect your personal life. Currently most of the proposed treatments for this problem involve medical treatments and hormone replacement, which can cause negative side effects. Against this current found on the dance an effective treatment joining the fight against strong presence inactivity in this age group, one can relieve stress therapy, stress and depression and other symptoms with a high rate of frequency during this cycle of female life, and improve self-image and self-esteem of women contributing significantly to the increase in their quality of life. The durability of the intervention was 20 weeks (4 weeks for data collection and adaptation, and 16 weeks after you stop dancing lessons) after this period there was a small change without relevance in body composition, and showed significant improvement in self-esteem (pre and post 106.04 ± 22.08 138 ± 26.32, p = 0.001) and selfimage (pre and post 71.36 ± 16.00 145 ± 17.97, p <0.000). |

Durante essa fase inúmeros sintomas e males de cunho hormonal, psicológico e social dificultam e prejudicam a qualidade de vida das que atravessam tal período. Muitos dos sintomas associados à menopausa têm sua origem muito mais relacionada a dificuldades psicológicas do que deficiências orgânicas e a forma como a mulher irá vivenciar e encarar esse momento pode ser determinante para como esses sintomas irão influenciar sua vida pessoal. Atualmente a maior parte dos tratamentos propostos para esse problema envolvem tratamentos medicinais e reposições hormonais, o que pode gerar efeitos colaterais negativos. Na contramão dessa corrente encontramos na dança um tratamento eficaz unindo o combate ao sedentarismo fortemente presente na população dessa faixa etária, uma terapia capaz de aliviar estresses, tensões e depressões e outros sintomas com alto índice de frequência durante esse ciclo da vida feminina, além de melhorar a autoimagem e autoestima da mulher contribuindo de forma relevante para o aumento de sua qualidade de vida.
