Resumo: | The training of the dentist should be aligned with the demands of social needs. For this to happen, contents related to the main problems faced by the population, such as domestic violence, must be addressed in their education. The present study aims to evaluate the degree of knowledge of dentists in relation to domestic violence, as well as verify that the Curriculum Grades of five private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and five state HEIs are in accordance with what is required in Curriculum Matrices established for undergraduate dentistry. It is a cross-sectional study with the application of a questionnaire to dentists of Basic Units of a small municipality in the interior of São Paulo and analysis of the Political-Pedagogical projects and curricular matrices of the HEIs. It was found through this research that only 9.1% of dentists know how domestic violence cases are recorded, 20% are familiar with the legislation and all the professionals are not aware of the records of notifications of violence. With respect to the curricula, between 86.37% and 94.12% of the curriculum content is focused on technical disciplines. A lack of professional efforts in addressing the problem in what refers to the identification and reporting of cases and, the lack of awareness of the legislation on the subject was found. There was also the need to adapt the curricula of the HEIs towards an approach of the subject, seeking to adequate them by the demand of the society with regard to the responsibility of the dentist in the treatment, notification and prevention of the phenomenon. |

Para que isso aconteça, conteúdos relativos aos principais problemas enfrentados pela população, como a violência intrafamiliar, devem ser abordados na graduação. O presente estudo objetiva avaliar o grau de conhecimento do cirurgião-dentista em relação à violência doméstica, bem como verificar se as grades curriculares de cinco Instituições de Ensino Superior particulares e cinco estaduais estão de acordo com o que é exigido nas matrizes curriculares estabelecidas para a graduação em Odontologia. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, com aplicação de questionário aos cirurgiões-dentistas das Unidades Básicas de Saúde de um município de pequeno porte do interior do Estado de São Paulo e análise dos projetos político-pedagógicos e matrizes curriculares das instituições de ensino. Verificou-se, por meio da presente pesquisa, que apenas 9,1% dos cirurgiões-dentistas sabem como os casos de violência intrafamiliar são registrados, 20% conhecem a legislação e a totalidade dos profissionais desconhecem a ficha de notificação de violência. Com relação às grades curriculares, entre 86,37% e 94,12% dos conteúdos curriculares são voltados para as disciplinas técnicas. Constatou-se desconhecimento do profissional quanto ao enfrentamento do problema no que se refere à identificação e à notificação dos casos, bem como o desconhecimento da legislação referente ao assunto.
