Resumo: The beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) has great economic importance in Brazil, as well as being a staple food of the population has high added value. Climate instability affects the bean in almost all producing regions of Brazil, causing large fluctuation in domestic production and making use of the very timely irrigation. In this context soil moisture is very important in controlling irrigation in the management of crop residues on the surface is effective in reducing soil water loss. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of the management of crop residues from the soil surface (with and without incorporation) in the use of irrigation water through the evaluation of soil moisture and evaluate the development and productivity of bean under one irrigation management. The project was conducted in the White Bullock Stream watershed, included in the municipalities of Paranapanema and Itai, in the southwestern region of the State of São Paulo. A instabilidade climática afeta o feijoeiro em quase todas as regiões produtoras do Brasil, provocando grande oscilação na produção nacional e tornando o uso da irrigação muito oportuno. Nesse contexto a umidade do solo tem grande importância no controle da irrigação em que o manejo dos resíduos vegetais sobre a superfície tem efeito na redução da perda de água do solo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência de diferentes manejos de resíduos vegetais da superfície do solo (com e sem incorporação) no consumo hídrico do feijoeiro irrigado, bem como avaliar seu desenvolvimento e produtividade. O projeto foi realizado na microbacia do córrego do Boi Branco, inserida nos municípios de Paranapanema e Itaí, na região sudoeste do Estado de São Paulo. O solo predominante na região é o latossolo vermelho muito argiloso. O sistema de irrigação utilizado foi o pivô central e adota-se sistema de cultivo mínimo com conservação da palha na superfície do solo. A incorporação dos resíduos ocorreu aleatoriamente em uma área correspondente ao raio do pivô, com 6 metros de largura. Observou-se ao final que a presença da palha na superfície reduziu a velocidade de secamento do solo nos primeiros 50 dias de cultivo.
