Resumo: The current work aims to present the theory of responsibility developed by Hans Jonas in his book “The Imperative of Responsibility: In Search of an Ethics for the Technological Society” and to understand how that theory has related with law, specially environmental law. The research developed here is eminently bibliographic, having as a guide the book “The Imperative of Responsibility”, mentioned above, and other works that sought to understand it, as well as other books on ethics, law, environment and several legal texts. This investigation is not intended to exhaust the topic, given its vastness, but to contribute to the understanding of the Jonasian ethics and its interaction with law, with greater focus on Brazilian law. It is intended, therefore, to give greater clarity to the philosophic foundations of the addressed legal institutes, such as the protection of the environment and future generations and the objective responsibility.

A pesquisa aqui desenvolvida é eminentemente bibliográfica, tendo como norte o livro “O Princípio Responsabilidade”, citado supra, e outras obras que buscaram compreendê-lo, bem como outros livros sobre ética, direito, meio ambiente e diversos textos legais. Esta investigação não tem a pretensão de exaurir o tema, haja vista a vastidão deste, mas contribuir para a compreensão da ética jonasiana e como esta interagiu com o direito, com maior foco ao brasileiro.
