Arranjos nas baterias de escolas de samba : análise da bossa "Esquenta" da Bateria Ritmo Puro

Resumo: For I understand orchestration as how a musical piece is organized for a big group of players, this monography intends to analyse an excerpt of a live performance of bateria Ritmo Puro, from the samba school Mocidade Alegre, in order to acknowledge the textural and expressive diferences between samba schools and other musical contexts involving big groups. Some similarities can be found when comparing samba schools with symphonic orchestras and Jazz big bands, but there are also fundamental diferences between each of them. Popular cultures are neglected in the academic environment, being very frequently faced simplistically, without much respect and seriousness. There is a lot to learn with this popular manifestations, and at the same time they are simple and fluid they are sophysticated.

Muito do que se encontra nos arranjos das escolas de samba pode ser visto de maneira análoga na prática de orquestras sinfônicas e de big bands de Jazz, e há também diferenças fundamentais entre cada uma delas. As culturas populares são negligenciadas pelo ambiente acadêmico, sendo quase sempre encaradas de modo simplista e folclorista, sem a devida profundidade e respeito.
