This work uses geoconservation as a tool for the protection, valuing and disclosure of the Irati Formation geoheritage, Permian of the Paraná Basin, at the district of Assistência, city of Rio Claro (SP). The method used was based on geoconservation strategies, which include: inventory, evaluation, classification, conservation, valuing/disclosure and monitoring. As the result of the inventory, the basic and geological characterization of the study area was made. As to the evaluation of the geoheritage's value, it is calculated that the study area has international/nacional significance. The juridical framework used for the legal protection of the study area was identified during the classification phase. As a mean of conservation, it is suggested that the geosite must have limited visitation. The valuing/disclosure strategies include: the creation of a geological park, the description of the diferent visitor types, the production of interpretative provision, the creation of geoturistic routes, and the making of fossil replicates. The monitoring phase includes periodic inspections of the geosite pro evalue the site's degradation. The use of the geoconservation strategies, as proposed, will bring positive effects to the society, as: the promotion of geoturism, a cration of a study, research and leisure equipment, the physical protection of Irati's Formation geoheritage and the spread of the knowledge of the concept geodiversity
