Early intervention, increase the chances of preventing and minimizing the installation of postural pattern and abnormal movement. Because is in period, first years of life, greatest plasticity of the brain. This study aimed to analyze the functional abilities of children enrolled in early intervention service Center Education and Health Studies. Participants were 80 caregivers of children 0-5 years old with developmental delay in period 2008 until 2015. Data collection was conducted through interviews with caregivers by the questionnaire Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) translated and adapted to Portuguese. The predominance of attendance in early stimulation program for children with diagnosis of cerebral palsy, down syndrome and developmental delay with most aged 7-30 months were verified. For domains of functional skills, this had greater relevance to social function. It is noteworthy, therefore, the importance of early intervention in the development of functional skills through incentives offered by various service areas aimed at independence in activities of daily living. We conclude that early stimulation program contribute in the fields of functional abilities significantly to children in early childhood.
