Over the years, the automotive market has grown and, more specifically in the context of this work, vehicles equipped with automatic transmission have gained space and even exceeded the manual transmission's one. The purpose of this work is to show the behavior of Fuel Economy levels and performance levels through the study of the maps that contain the gear shift points in Prisma automatic transmission GF6 6T30 (car that belongs to General Motors). In order to have a full understanding of the context in which an automatic transmission is inserted and the results achieved, it is necessary for the reader to be situated in the physical and conceptual foundations of the automotive universe: to understand what a GF6 6T30 is; what are its components (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic) and how they integrate to be an essential support for the movement of the vehicle; what is a march, how to make an automatic shift and how to read a map of gearshift; all subjects were addressed as introductory topics during the work. In order for the theory to be put into practice, on-track tests conducted at Campo de Provas da Cruz Alta (CPCA) at General Motors were taken and interpreted with the help of software (INCA, MDA, EXCEL, etc.) in order to analyze the behavior of fuel economy and performance through the study of gearshift maps. The tests consisted of using the entire percentage field of the accelerator pedal and the largest possible range of speeds, so that a theoretical map of changes could be constructed. Finally, it was noticed that the fuel consumption is dependent on the gear ratio, so that the higher the ratio, the higher the consumption.
