Resumo: The sports universe is characterized as a typical male environment. Prejudice still permeates the woman reality, even her being in a constant search for greater recognition. In the cases when the woman image is not associated to sexual elements or her sucess as an athlete is not conditioned to her beauty, the news relate the feminine behavior to fragility or lack of emotion control. That said, although the women presence as professional athletes in Olympic Games has been increasing, they still suffer from discrimination that values other elements in their athletic performance detriment. In this essay, we aim to understand the female participation historic in the 2012 London Olympic Games. The goal is to identify how the woman image has been built and to understand the elements that the set up identify

Dessa forma, quando sua imagem não é associada a elementos sexuais ou seu sucesso como atleta condicionado à sua beleza, o tratamento noticioso relaciona o comportamento feminino à fragilidade ou descontrole das emoções. Por isso, apesar da presença de mulheres atuando como atletas profissionais em Jogos Olímpicos estar em crescente aumento, elas ainda sofrem com a discriminação que valoriza outros elementos em detrimento de sua performance atlética. Neste trabalho, buscamos compreender o histórico da participação feminina em Olimpíadas e definimos como objeto de estudo as modalidades em que a atleta brasileira aparece com mais evidência nos Jogos Olímpicos de Londres 2012.
