Resumo: Quantification of chemical compounds in the gas phase is essential in many different scenarios, such as the monitoring of gaseous analytes in environmental, clinical, and industrial samples, as well as the detection of volatile species from liquid or solid samples. The broad range of applications demands the development of versatile yet portable sensors devices featuring fast response, suitable sensitivity and selectivity, and accuracy. Optical sensors based on ultraviolet and visible radiation are an excellent alternative to fulfill such requirements. In this chapter, a variety of approaches for the determination of gaseous or volatiles species will be discussed.
