Resumo: Considering that knowledge representation consists in a constant decision-making and that its products must be reliable, this paper highlights the existence of ethical problems in this context with undeniable damage to the user. Thefore, from a theorethical excerpt of the international literature regarding the ethical aspects involved in knowledge organization and representation, this study gets to the reflection of: a) the biases in knowledge representation; and b) non-neutrality of its processes, instruments and products, as subsidies to the outlining of possible ethical problems regarding the user as well as the role of information professional.

Desse modo, parte-se de um recorte teórico da literatura internacional no tocante aos aspectos éticos envolvidos na organização e representação do conhecimento para se chegar à reflexão de dois vértices: a) as biases na representação do conhecimento; e b) a não neutralidade de seus processos, instrumentos e produtos, como subsídios ao delineamento de possíveis problemas éticos no tocante ao usuário, bem como no tocante à atuação do profissional da informação.Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Departamento de Ciência da Informação, Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências - Campus de Marília, Marília, Av.
