Resumo: This work aims at researching the relevance of creating a math course for the elderly, proposing a course aiming at this public in UNATI - UNESP, Guaratinguetá. Initially, the term elderly was searched and on when this group had become relevant for the society. When, how and where universities focusing on this age group have started the course was also searched, specifically at UNATI - Guaratinguetá. It is briefly described the importance of math in the everyday life of all citizens, and how this knowledge helps them with their daily tasks. After gathering all necessary data, a course for the elderly was proposed with the purpose of introducing math concepts in a ludic and relaxed manner

Procuramos inicialmente saber de onde veio o termo Terceira Idade e desde quando este grupo se tornou relevante na sociedade. Além disso buscamos levantar a origem das Universidades voltadas à Terceira Idade e mais especificamente a UNATI - UNESP. A partir de entrevistas, mediante a utilização de questionários semiestruturados, buscamos conhecer melhor os usuários da UNATI - Guaratinguetá, para assim, identificar aspectos de suas vidas que exigem o uso de ferramentas matemáticas.
