The knowledge of skin wound has a crucial importance in the veterinary medicine field, especially in horses, whose exuberant granulation tissue implies delays in other stages of wound healing, leading to chronic lesions and possibly resulting in the animal's incapacitation or consequent death. Therefore, phytotherapy seems to be a viable alternative for the treatment of several diseases, that affect both humans and animals. Thus, the use of this therapeutic resource has been increasingly frequent, highlighting those with a healing action, with promising results in the equine species. Thus, this review aims to carry out a data survey in which the use of barbatimão (Stryphnodendron barbatiman), calêndula (Calendula officinalis) and comfrey (Symphytum officinale) stand out. The datas presented here show that the topical application of barbatimão tea seems to be the most used herbal medicine and with the best results in the healing of equine skin, among the options considered here. The use of calêndua has been growing, although less than barbatimão. The use of comfrey, however, had little used in recently published works, being considered by some authors as not indicated.
