Avaliação in vitro da alteração de cor de dentes submetidos a diferentes tratamentos clareadores

The aim of this study was to verify the color change in bovine teeth bleached with carbamide peroxide (CP) at 10%, with hydrogen peroxide (HP) at 20% and 35%. Ninety bovine incisors were used to confection the enamel/dentin discs from the buccal surface, then randomly divided in 5 groups (n = 15). Group I was considered the control group and did not receive bleaching treatment. Group II received CP at 10% 3 hours/nights, during 21 days; Group III received one 50 minutes-application of HP 20%. Discs from group IV received 3 consecutive applications of hydrogen peroxide 35%, the bleaching agent was refreshed every 15 minutes. Discs from group V received one 45 minutes-application of hydrogen peroxide 35%. This procedure was done 3 times at weekly intervals. The analysis of the color change was carried out by spectrophotometry reflection. The readings were performed 7 days after each in-office bleaching session, after each week of at-home procedure, and 14 days after the end of the bleaching treatment. The data were submitted to ANOVA and PLSD Fisher test at 5% significance level. It was observed statistical difference in all bleaching therapy between all period analyzed (p>0.05). The greatest and the lowest values of Delta E were observed in group IV and II respectfully, in all period analyzed. When the color analysis was performed after 7 days of the end of the bleaching it was verified color stability in group II, IV and V. Thus, it was concluded that all bleaching therapies were effective and there is no need of replacing the bleaching product during whitening procedure
