Resumo: The production of scientific knowledge developed in Brazilian universities hardly reaches the society, which causes a distance and devaluation of science by the general public. Science communication practices stand out as an important way of strengthening the relationship between science and society. Thus, the objective of this work was to elaborate an educational product for science teaching, Popular Science Text based on scientific research produced within the university about the Metal Organic Frameworks and their application in forensic chemistry. Thus, it can be said that the Popular Science Text produced presented content and form, as well as adequate and grounded language, fundamental characteristics to transmit scientific knowledge to a lay public. Consequently, the Popular Science Text produced can present a great educational potential if well delimited by the teacher for its use in the classroom, with the development of students towards the reading habit, contact with scientific knowledge, engagement in the classroom, which may favor critical thinking of students.

As práticas de divulgação científica se destacam como uma importante forma de estreitar a relação entre ciência e sociedade. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi elaborar um produto educacional para o ensino de ciências: um texto de divulgação científica baseado em uma pesquisa científica produzida no âmbito interno da universidade a respeito das Metal Organic Frameworks e sua aplicação na química forense. Dessa forma, pode-se dizer que o texto de divulgação científica produzido apresentou o conteúdo e forma, bem como a linguagem adequada e fundamentada, características fundamentais para transmitir o conhecimento científico para um público leigo.
