The following study is a qualitative research. Its general goal is to propose the use of agile project management methods into the product development in a sporting good company. Therefore, a diagnosis of the project management in Alfa during the year of 2015 was made. The industrial department of the studied company is the main focus of both the communication and project management flow. That is the reason why the diagnosis construction was done through participant observation, which was done by the author herself, and through semi directed interviews with collaborators of the industrial department. With the goals of: better understand the different proposals of project management; and to build a knowledge basis to develop the suggestion proposition, the bibliographic revision was done, with focus on the agile project management. From this diagnosis, it was possible to conclude that the main difficulties during the product development in Alfa were: internal communication and with suppliers, rework, long meetings bureaucracy and hierarchy that influence negatively the decision making process. The diagnosis showed also the results from this situation: projects are delayed and different than what was expected by the stakeholders; besides that the efficiency and efficacy are reduced. As a proposal to improve the results of the product development in Alfa, the use of agile management techniques was suggested and presented to the industrial department managements. Some limits did not make it possible for the study to be deeper with data of the suggestion being used in practice. The proposal to improve this study is that employees from other areas should be interviewed. Moreover, it would have been interesting if more studies similar to this one, which takes into consideration the use of agile project management, would have been made to enrich the agile project management literature
