A mídia e o esporte: uma abordagem sobre o basquetebol feminino no Brasil

Resumo: Basketball came in 1891 in the city of Springfield in the state of Massachusetts, USA, as an alternative to the practice of school physical activity during local winter. Since its creation, the sport was gaining popularity, reaching its peak in 1936 with the inclusion of the sport in the Berlin Olympic Games. The sport became popular, and this mode was developed, becoming one of the most practiced and watched sports in the world, their games are broadcast around the world, is the Olympic Games, World Championships, National Championships or even International Leagues. In addition to this relationship between sport and media, can add another component to this discussion, the issue of coverage given by the media about sex, since it is common to observe that women's sports do not receive the media the same treatment modalities male. The aim of this study was to raise a theoretical basis, the relationship between the media, sex and sport and specific manner, investigate the women's basketball and its appearance in the media, specifically on sports websites. a theoretical framework, which addressed issues related to the media, sex and sport, to understand their relationship was made. In addition, a process of identification and quantitative analysis of women's basketball in the Brazilian media, only in this case in three sports sites reaching in Brazil. It was evident that the media exerts reciprocal relationship with sport, relationship shaped by lucrative interests. In the case of the relationship between media and women's sports it was evident that women appear in smaller quantities in the media and when they appear to receive different treatment designed for men. Finally, in a specific way it is concluded that when analyzing the news published for a week in three sports websites, only 8.05% of them include related content directly to women's basketball

Desde sua criação, a modalidade foi ganhando popularidade, atingindo seu ápice em 1936 com a inclusão da modalidade nos Jogos Olímpicos de Berlim. O esporte foi se popularizando, e com isso a modalidade se desenvolveu, tornando-se um dos esportes mais praticados e assistidos em todo mundo, seus jogos são transmitidos em todo o mundo, seja dos Jogos Olímpicos, Campeonatos Mundiais, Campeonatos Nacionais ou até mesmo Ligas Internacionais. Além dessa relação entre Esporte e Mídia, pode-se acrescentar outro componente a essa discussão, a questão da cobertura dada pela a mídia com relação ao sexo, visto que é comum observar que o esporte feminino não recebe das mídias o mesmo tratamento dado às modalidades masculinas. O objetivo desse estudo foi levantar uma fundamentação teórica, a relação entre a mídia, o sexo e o esporte e de maneira especifica, investigar o basquetebol feminino e sua aparição na mídia, especificamente em sites esportivos na internet. Foi realizado um referencial teórico, que abordou temas relacionados à mídia, ao sexo e ao esporte, visando compreender suas relações. Além disso, um processo de identificação e análise quantitativa do basquetebol feminino na mídia brasileira, exclusivamente nesse caso em três sites esportivos de grande alcance no Brasil. Evidenciou-se que a mídia exerce relação de reciprocidade com esporte, relação moldada por interesses lucrativos. No caso da relação entre mídia e esporte feminino ficou evidente que as mulheres aparecem em menor quantidade na mídia e quando aparecem recebem tratamento diferente aos concebidos para os homens.
