Resumo: Objective: To verify the effect of the patient's knowledge (device) to control the time of use (TheraMon®) in the motivation of patients undergoing facial orthopedic treatment. Materials and Methods: In the present study, the TheraMon® device was included in the Balters Bionator functional orthopedic device of a patient diagnosed with Class II, division 1 and mandibular retrusion occlusion, and monitoring of the use of the device for 12 months. As consultations in the first month were fortnightly and from the second month were monthly. Results: The use of the TheraMon® time-of-use monitoring device was effective, since the patient was not patient, when a poor collaboration was seen, it was again oriented and estimated and no months after returning, the graphs show a large Collaboration. Conclusion: Despite recent studies of TheraMon®, conclusions about using the microcomputer to monitor the use of removable devices are not intuitive to motivate the patient in relation to their use

Materiais e Métodos: No presente estudo, o dispositivo TheraMon® foi incluído no aparelho ortopédico funcional tipo Bionator de Balters de um paciente diagnosticado com má oclusão de Classe II, divisão 1ª e retrusão mandibular e foi realizado o monitoramento do uso do aparelho durante 12 meses. As consultas no primeiro mês foram quinzenais e a partir do segundo mês foram mensais. Resultados: A utilização do dispositivo de monitoramento do tempo de uso TheraMon® foi eficaz, visto que nos retornos do paciente, quando era visto uma má colaboração, ele era novamente orientado e estimulado e no mês seguinte quando retornava, os gráficos mostravam uma maior colaboração.
