The world is increasingly integrated and more competitive, organizations need to look for ways to stay competitive and reduce costs along with the best quality in services is essential. Logistics has a considerable participation in the structure of costs of the companies, mainly the cost with the transport, which increases the importance of studying the best way to do the movement of charges. The transport network is more and more complex and the choice of which modal to use is not a trivial process, intermodality and multimodality are present and are alternatives to be able to optimize freight cost in Brazil. The trend towards the use of multimodality is noted all over the world, because with it is possible to combine the advantages of each modal and to improve the logistic efficiency of the transport.
