Brazil is an important producer of beef and the demand for this product is increasing, so many have been looking for the use of technologies to optimize their livestock rates to the maximum, improving the performance of their herds. The use of probiotics in calves can assist in the productive gains of livestock, in order to identify the advantages of their use, it was approached as a systematic review. Its use in calves causes improved immune response to prevent and treat diarrhea and improve feed conversion, increasing animal weight gain. Scientific articles were searched during the months of March, April and May of 2017 in the databases: Google Scholar, Scielo, Pubmed and through the portal of CAPES journals, in the banks (SCM) and SCOPUS (Elsevier) using the following indexing terms: ' bovine ' AND ' MEDLINE / PubMED (NLM) ', Scienci Citation Index Expanded (web of Science) 'Calf' 'AND' 'probiotic'. We selected 7 articles on the use of probiotics. It was concluded that the use of probiotics in calves provides an increase in production, but there is still a need to elucidate their methods of use.
