Understood as an essential action for companies to maintain or seek better positions, innovation is related to processes of learning and discovery of new products, processes and forms of organization. The phenomenon attracts the interest of scholars, which has extended studies of technological and product innovation to other fields, such as business model innovation, service innovation and process innovation. With regard to innovation in management practices, scholars have chosen to identify the adoption or non-adoption of new practices as well as factors inducing innovation. There is evidence of a relative scarcity of research that drives innovation studies to micro and small enterprises. The context of the research on innovation in management practices, as well as the relevance of the micro, small and medium industry in the state scenario instigate the accomplishment of this work. The guiding question of the research was: what is the influence of information sources and organizational context on innovation in management practices in micro, small and medium enterprises served by PEPI / RS? Based on this problem, the main objective is to evaluate the influence of organizational context and sources of information on innovation in management practices, in micro, small and medium enterprises served by PEPI / RS. In order to achieve the objectives outlined, a quantitative research was carried out, of an explanatory nature, involving a population of 5,121 micro, small and medium size companies in the industrial sector, attended by the Projeto Extensão Produtiva e Inovação (PEPI) in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The sample was set up as non-probabilistic or intentional, totaling 89 companies. The data were collected by means of a survey. The data analysis and interpretation plan was performed using Pearson correlation and linear regression, with software support LHStat and Action Stat. By testing the hypotheses predicted by the conceptual model, it was revealed that internal sources and professional sources were configured as predictors of innovation in management practices. In addition, the research showed that the sources of information management control systems and Project Productive Extension and Innovation presented positive and statistically significant relationships, demonstrating that, from the list of researched information sources, these have a greater impact on innovation in management practices. As future research it is recommended to contemplate characteristics of the internal environment conducive to innovation in management practices, seek the heterogeneity of the sample universe and the application of longitudinal study. Also, given the non-confirmation of the relationship between labor education variables and innovation in management practices, the use of qualitative research is suggested in order to understand this relationship.
