Resumo: The pluralities of configurations and structures that have been characterizing the family core diversity and the marital unions have generated the need to comprehend classic constructs in contemporarily configurations, such as same-sex couples. It is known that the heterosexual social support network is related with couple satisfaction and it provides support functions, however, the information about how it happens in homosexual couples are so little. So, the objective of this article is to investigate the correlation between couple’s cohesion and adaption and social support perception of gays and lesbians from their family, friends and work/school. The sample interviewed was constituted of 111 people in same-sex relations, with an age mean of 32.59 years old from both sex. It was found a positive significant correlation between cohesion/adaption and both variables social support from family and from friends. This data shows us, in regards to this sample, that the support functions measured and provided by both family and friends may be promoting the development of marital quality.

This data shows us, in regards to this sample, that the support functions measured and provided by both family and friends may be promoting the development of marital quality. Editora Mackenzie2011-12-22info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttp://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/ptp/article/view/1943Journal Psychology: Theory and Practice ; Vol. 13 No. 3 (2011); 96-109Revista Psicologia: Teoría y Práctica; Vol. 13 Núm. 3 (2011); 96-109Revista Psicologia: Teoria e Prática; v. 13 n. 3 (2011); 96-1091980-69061516-3687reponame:Psicologia (Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie.
