THE PROFILE OF THE SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT IDENTITY IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS THEORY

Resumo:  The present study is about an exploratory-descriptive systematic review – with a quali-quantitative approach – which aimed to identify the profile of the scientific production conveyed in theses, dissertations and articles regarding the concept of identity related to the social representations theory. The data used in this research were collected in the virtual portals of the institutions Capes, Bireme Bdenf, USP, UFRJ and Uerj; from papers published in the time frame from 2000 till 2011, which presented in theirs abstracts the descriptors terms identidade (identity) and representação social/ representações sociais (social representation(s)) or theirs equivalents in English or Spanish. The results indicate that social representations can be shared among different individuals, corroborating so, for the understanding of the construction of identities under different perspectives. We conclude that the approach to the problem of the identity – on the bases of the social representations theory – shows complex and productive faces, which can be characterized as a typical human (re)construction phenomenon; and therefore, in constant evolution.

Los datos utilizados para esta investigación fueron colectados en los portales virtuales de las institutiones Capes, Bireme, Bdenf, USP, UFRJ y Uerj, en trabajos publicados en el pe ríodo de tiempo de 2000 hasta 2011 y que presentaban en sus resúmenes los términos descriptores identidade (identidad) y representação social/representações sociais (representación social/ representaciones sociales) o sus equivalentes en español o inglés . Los resultados indican que las representaciones sociales pueden ser compartidas entre diferentes individuos, corroborando así, para la comprensión de la construcción de identidades hacia perspectivas diferentes. Se puede concluir entonces que el enfoque del problema de la identidad – partiendo de la teoría de las representaciones sociales – evidencia facetas complejas y productivas, caracterizándose como um típico fenómeno de reconstrucción humana; y por tanto, en constante evolución.  Trata-se de revisão sistemática, de natureza exploratório-descritiva, com abordagem quali-quantitativa, cujo objetivo foi identificar o perfil da produção científica veiculada por teses, dissertações e artigos no que concerne ao conceito de identidade relacionado à teoria das representações sociais. Os dados foram coletados nos portais virtuais da Capes, Bireme, Bdenf, USP, UFRJ e Uerj, em obras publicadas no recorte temporal de 2000 e 2011, que apresentavam em seus resumos os termos descritores identidade e representação social/representações sociais ou seus sinônimos em inglês ou espanhol. Os resultados indicam que as representações sociais podem ser partilhadas entre indivíduos diferentes, corroborando a compreensão da construção de identidades sob diferentes perspectivas.
