Chidren’s Quality of Life Measuring: Conceptual and Methodological Issues

Resumo: During the last years, the interest for quality of life and its assessment has increased in Psychology. The possibility of using quality of life as a clinical relevant measure of psychotherapeutic outcomes has been focus of both studies and development of instruments for measuring quality of life, mainly for adults. This article illuminates the lack of studies on quality of life measurement instruments for children as well as the main conceptual and methodological issues in the assessment of children’s quality of life. Recomendations are made about the criteria of evaluation of children’s quality of life measures and their applications.

A possibilidade da utilização de qualidade de vida como medida de significância clínica de resultados psicoterapêuticos tem motivado inúmeros estudos e o desenvolvimento de vários instrumentos, principalmente para adultos. A carência de trabalhos nessa área com foco na população infantil é destacada no presente artigo, bem como os principais aspectos conceituais e metodológicos do assunto.
