Resumo: The Behavioral Assessment Protocol for Children referred for a possible Autism Spectrum Disorder (Protea‑R) diagnosis is a psychological evaluation system composed by the following techniques: Parental Interview, Behavioral Observation Protocol, Behavioral Definition Manual, Evaluators Guidelines (manual), and Parents´ Feedback Guidelines. The aim of this study is to present the trajectory of the instrument construction, focusing on the step 2 (exclusion, formulation and reformulation of items suitable to nonverbal children) and step 3 (both evaluators and judges´ analyses of the instrument administration and codification) of the scale construction procedure. Those two steps extend the findings of the step 1, previously presented. Findings showed the Protea‑R clinical applicability, relevance and adequacy of both administration and coding procedures, revealing its potential contribution for the ASD children´s psychological assessment.

El objetivo es presentar la trayectoria de la construcción del instrumento, centrándose en las etapas 2 (ex‑ clusión, desarrollo, reformulación y adecuación de los ítens del instrumentos para los niños no verbales) y 3 (estudio piloto con el análisis de los evaluadores y jueces en relación a la administración y codificación) de la construcción de la escala, extendiendo los resultados de la etapa 1. Los resultados mostraron la aplicabilidad clínica, la pertinencia y la adecuación del instrumento, que indica la importancia de esto como parte del sistema de evaluación psicológica para niños con sospecha de autismo.O Protocolo de Avaliação Comportamental para Crianças com Suspeita de Transtorno do Espectro Autista (PROTEA-R) compõe um sistema de avaliação psicológica, o qual abrange as seguintes técnicas: Entrevista parental; Escala de observação do comportamento; Manual de definição dos comportamentos; Manual de conduta do avaliador e Diretrizes de devolução, e parecer. O objetivo do presente estudo é estender os achados da Etapa 1 da construção da escala, apresentando as Etapas 2 (exclusão, elaboração, reformulação e adequação dos itens do instrumento a crianças não verbais) e 3 (estudo piloto envolvendo a análise de avaliadores e juízes a partir da administração e codificação dos itens).
