Resumo: The period of transformations of the metropolises subsidized during the last decades to the requalification of the ports due its degradation.This process was given through the originated advances technologies in the ports structures.The adaptation to the existing standards provided the sprouting of new urban meshes adapted to the urban centers being born together to the coastal regions of several metropolises.In this way the transformation of American- Latin cities and the linkings with the maritime border, this joint between the ports areas of the metropolises of Buenos Aires, Montevideu and Rio de Janeiro have allowed to the integration space patner between again urbanized areas of the historical centers and the ports of the region of the south cone.

Esse processo deu-se, dentre outras coisas através dos avanços tecnológicos originados nas estruturas portuárias. A adaptação aos padrões atuais existentes proporcionou o surgimento de novas malhas urbanas adaptadas aos centros urbanos nascendo junto às regiões litorâneas de diversas metrópoles.
