This research aimed to analyze the relationship between information technology (IT) competence, organizational agility and innovation capacity of Mozambican organizations. The research was carried out in several public and private organizations operating in Mozambique. At first, the literature was reviewed to understand the advances achieved in the different aspects related to IT competence, its impact on organizational agility, seeking to respond to the challenges posed by the changing environment in which each organization operates. In the same sequence, the literature studied the impact of IT competence on innovation capacity and, finally, the impact of organizational agility on innovation capacity. With this theoretical corpus it was possible to formulate the hypotheses that led the course of the research and its evaluation. In the research, the quantitative descriptive method was used, using a cross-sectional electronic questionnaire administered to different organizations from May to October 2020. The electronic questionnaire contained questions related to IT competence, organizational agility and innovation capacity as being the main constructs of the previously outlined research model. The return was 141 responses, of which 136 responses were considered valid. For data analysis, partial least squares structural equation modeling was used, using the SmartPls-3.3.2® software. The results reveal a strong impact of IT competence on organizational agility and innovation capacity in Mozambican organizations. In the same sequence, organizational agility positively impacts the innovation capacity. When a Mozambican organization is IT competent, it is able to promptly detect the fluctuations in the market in which it operates and can respond with the flexibility, effectiveness and efficiency that this market requires. Responding to market demands, the organizations are innovating services, products, processes, strategies, behavior and innovation in the market itself. As for the dimensions of IT competence previously theoretically evaluated, the results confirmed empirically that this it´s a reflection of the IT infrastructure capacity, IT business spanning capability, IT proactive posture, IT flexibility and IT integration. For Mozambican organizations interested in being more competitive in the market, a high investment in IT on its various dimensions is necessary in order to be agile and innovative. It is not enough to have equipment stored in the organization; it must be usual at all levels.
