The present essay aims to study the political corruption, with special attentionto the Brazilian political-economiccontext in which the phenomenon unfolds. The main goal of this study is to formulate concrete proposals, viable to beimplemented in the current national conjuncture, in order to control and treat properlythe phenomenon, which, on the one hand, is detrimental to the accurate functioningof the administrative functions of the State and, on the other hand, harmful to the socioeconomic interests of the entire collectivity of citizens, especially those of the subordinate classes.The theoretical basis guiding the development of such proposals comes from Left RealistCriminology, a strand of Critical Criminology concerned with practical interventionsin problematic social phenomena typical of postmodern capitalist society.Thus, it will be exposed that the path that best guides the treatment of political corruption lies in the construction of a multidisciplinary, integrated, coordinated and predominantly preventive system.In the core of this system, emphasis will be given to internal-company compliance programs, whichare able to curb the unlawful involvementbetween the members of the companies and corrupt politicians and, consequently,avoid cases of political corruption. In this sense, it will be proposed the implementation of a minimalist criminal policycommitted to fundamental rights and guarantees.It will be also proposed dogmatic guidelines for the application of Criminal Lawin the exceptional cases where it is still necessary.
