Resumo: | The Charismatic Renewal in the Diocese of Santo Amaro: An Experience of Revival in Times of Modernity" is the proposal of a study on the Catholic Pentecostal phenomenon that emerges from the second half of the twentieth century in the Roman Catholic Church as a proposal of Religious re-enchantment. Today it is not possible to ignore the fact that this movement has stood out, together with the neopentecostais, in the Brazilian religious field, increasing its expansion in the last three decades. Born in 1967, in Pittsburg, United States, from an experience of a group of laypeople from the Duquesne University, the Charismatic Renewal arrives in Brazil two years later (1969), bringing in its foundational bases a great similarity with the Pentecostal movements of Protestant origin. With the emergence of this movement the Catholic Church has managed to gather large numbers of faithful, with their prayer groups, praises, masses for healing and liberation and mega events. In them, the singers and singers who follow the gospel line stand out. In the view of some specialists in the study of religion, this movement arises with the intention of holding believers within the Catholic Church itself, not losing them thus to the competitor. For others this movement is born of a need of the Catholic Church itself to adapt to a new project of evangelization already idealized in the Second Vatican Council, with Pope John XXIII proposing an aggiornamento. This work is based on a survey of bibliographic data, as well as an observation based on how the Catholic Charismatic Renewal operates in the Diocese of Santo Amaro, São Paulo. It was possible to observe that the diocese of Santo Amaro has been presented as a strong charismatic pole in the XXI century, gaining strong space in the media. To a great extent this is due to his great media exponent, Marcelo Rossi, followed by other priest singers, with the famous Masses for praise and healing, managing to gather crowds. In the Roman Catholic Church, parallel to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, we have seen that other Catholic movements have emerged, but none have been able to establish themselves and gain the same field of action and re-enchantment as she does. This leads us to believe that this may be the result of their tendency to a religion of emotional communities. |

This leads us to believe that this may be the result of their tendency to a religion of emotional communities.
