Este artigo discute as relações entre ideal pastoral e modernismo tecnológico na literatura sobre a produção de maçãs no Brasil. Para isso, as obras Glória de pioneiros (1984) de Gentila Porto Lopes, e Fraiburgo: berço da maçã brasileira (1989), de Willy Frey, foram discutidas por meio de categorias como biorregionalismo, húbris, escrita da natureza e imaginação ambiental, oriundas da Ecocrítica e da História Ambiental. Os livros não são apenas obras literárias que falam da implantação de pomares de macieira numa pequena cidade do interior do Brasil. Eles fazem parte de um sistema maior que envolve tecnologia, instituições, relações ecológicas, de representações sociais e de anseios que ora aparecem reificados numa interpretação mais modernista, ora numa pastoral que remitifica a ligação entre humanos e mundo natural.PASTORAL IDEAL, BIOREGIONALISM, AND MODERNISM IN THE LITERATURE ON APPLE PRODUCTION IN BRAZILThis article discusses the relationship between pastoral ideal and technological modernism in the literature about apple production in Brazil. Books like Glória de Pioneiros (1984), by Gentila Porto Lopes, and Fraiburgo: berço da maçã brasileira (1989), by Willy Frey, had been discussed through some analytical categories like bioregionalism, hubris, nature writing and environmental imagination, taken from Ecocritics and Environmental History. These books are not simplistic local literature telling stories on apple orchards in a little town of Brazil's countryside; they are part of a system where technology, institutions, ecological relations, social representation and desires that are, in one hand, a modernist interpretation of nature, and, in other hand, a pastoral view that remithify human-non human relations.
