Gestão do conhecimento em organizações públicas complexas : um estudo de caso na UFRPE

This research investigated the level of Knowledge Management Maturity in the field of a complex institution, the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), and the researched audience is formed by public servants: professors and technicians. In general, knowledge is the great purpose of a university and knowledge management (KM) encompasses the creation, identification, integration, retrieval, sharing and use of knowledge within an organization. Thus, it is important to investigate the Maturity Level in Knowledge Management of higher education institutions; and the study also identified, by segmented profiles, the most relevant aspects of KM present at UFRPE in the view of professors with management positions, professors without management positions, technicians with management positions and technicians without management positions. To achieve this goal, we used the quantitative methodology, descriptive approach and application of 245 questionnaires for organizational analysis using the Batista model (2012) for public institutions and with research adaptations to the institutional reality and with complexity theory lenses. The questions were scored according to 7 criteria: Leadership for Knowledge Management, Process, People, Technology, Knowledge Processes, Learning and Innovation, KM Results and the Likert scale was used. The analysis of 9800 answers allowed a score of 110.88 that ranked the university in the Initiation Level in Knowledge Management. Thus the institution is on the second level of the scale that goes up to 5 steps. Perceptions differ according to the profile analyzed, but all point to the need to advance a lot in KM. Study limitations and indications for future studies are also presented.
