Uma proposta de sistema produtivo sustentável para a cultura do maracujá no assentamento Arariba de Baixo - Pernambuco

This study was developed from a previous diagnosis of the production system of passionflower, dominants on lower Arariba spot, south zona da mata, Pernambuco. The research carried out with he producers of the main familiar economic activity of the spot showed that, both from the agronomic perspective or financial and economic, the present systems lack efficiency, generating negative impacts over health and natural environment, specially regarding to the pollution of Pirapama river's affluence. Considering the importance of the culture of passionflower in familiar agriculture activities, the development of a ecological production system proposal witch eliminate progressively the damage on natural environment caused by conventional production systems, allowing the insertion of familiar agriculture on local development trough the production and commercialization of higher aggregated value differentiated products. Aiming the scope of this alternative proposal, a comparative study related to the present production system and an alternative organic passionflower was performed, considering production variables, market behavior, environmental changes for each production procedure. The data collected on this research and the analysis of these aspects related to the alternative model proposed indicate the advantages of organic passionflower compared to the present status. The agronomic, financial and economic analysis indicate that the organic passionflower production system can substitute with some advantage the conventional production system, witch are less efficient with the use of natural and economic resources. The results of this research aimed to provide information for the development of some changes to the conventional production system located on lower Arariba spot because of its lack of economic and social efficiency causing negative impacts over natural environment, with direct and indirect costs to the community and the society in a general way.
