Resumo: Distance Education (DE) uses multiple Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to "bring" students together and motivate them, increasing their autonomy of study and promoting their meaningful learning. One of these ICT is Printed Didactic Material (PDM). This research was developed to evaluate the efficiency of PDM in Distance Education poles of the Instituto Federal do Piauí (IFPI). To do so, this case study, through a qualitative approach, used questionnaires, interviews, and documentary research to obtain pertinent information to answer the question: what is the perception of the students about the Printed Didactic Materials used in the Technical Course in Administration of IFPI In the context of the DE? The techniques of content analysis were applied, based on a theoretical platform composed of the following central points: Distance Education; Printed Material, e; Perception of the student / reader in order to achieve the proposed objectives. It was verified that the PDM gains strength among the students of the DE, in the face of the scenario of the majority of the municipalities of the interior of Piauí, characterized by the low quality in the provision of electric energy services, and the signal of the Internet, being so low, That some ICT lose their effectiveness when students need it most. Also note the economic reality of most of these students, who do not have access to digital technology tools. It should be emphasized that, in DE, one technology does not substitute another, but it is integrated, because it is the dialogue between different technologies that supports student learning. However, ICT, with all its attractiveness in media resources, loses strength in the face of a simpler but more accessible technology that is easy to use and independent of other resources for its use, which is PDM. Thus, with the main objective of analyzing students' perceptions about the PDM used in the reference course, a standard of answers was obtained in the analysis of the collected data, in which, the students ratify the importance and necessity to receive the PDM, As an essential tool in the teaching-learning process. However, they suggest that these didactic materials need to present content, contextualization, dialogic language and attractive design. As a result, a product was developed to support the development of policies and actions for PDM production, which seek to meet the needs and desires of these students for an effective teaching-learning process, whether in the distance or face-to-face mode. The PDM produced for DE, for all its specificities, represents a significant tool in the teaching-learning process, regardless of the modality of education that may be used.

Uma destas TIC é o Material Didático Impresso (MDI). Esta pesquisa foi desenvolvida para avaliar a eficiência do MDI em polos de Educação a Distância do Instituto Federal do Piauí (IFPI). Para tanto, este estudo de caso, através de uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizou questionários, entrevistas, além de pesquisa documental a fim de obter informações pertinentes para responder ao questionamento: qual a percepção dos estudantes sobre os Materiais Didáticos Impressos utilizados no curso Técnico em Administração do IFPI no contexto da EaD? Aplicaram-se as técnicas de análise de conteúdo, alicerçadas por uma plataforma teórica composta dos seguintes pontos centrais: Educação a Distância; Material Didático Impresso, e; percepção do estudante/leitor, a fim de efetivar os objetivos propostos. Constatou-se que o MDI ganha força entre os estudantes da EaD, em face do cenário da maioria dos municípios do interior do Piauí, caracterizado pela baixa qualidade na prestação de serviços de energia elétrica e Internet. Saliente-se, também, a realidade econômica da maioria destes estudantes, que não têm acesso às ferramentas tecnológicas digitais. Ressalta-se que, na EaD, uma tecnologia não substitui outra, e sim integram-se, pois é o diálogo entre diferentes tecnologias que apoia a aprendizagem do estudante. Todavia, as TIC, com toda a sua atratividade em recursos midiáticos, perdem força diante de uma tecnologia mais simples, porém acessível, de fácil manuseio e que independe de outros recursos para seu uso, que é o MDI. Dessa forma, com o objetivo principal de analisar a percepção de estudantes sobre os MDI utilizados no curso em referência, obteve-se um padrão de respostas na análise dos dados coletados, nas quais, os estudantes ratificam a importância e necessidade de receberem os MDI, como ferramenta imprescindível no processo de ensino-aprendizagem. No entanto, as respostas analisadas sugerem que estes materiais didáticos precisam apresentar conteúdo, contextualização, linguagem dialógica e design atrativo.
