Resumo: The objective of this trial was to evaluate the potential of cassava by product use in broilers diets during 42 days. There were used 360 male pullets, Ross strain, with one day old in a randomized block design experiment. The birds were submitted to five treatments (inclusion levels of 0, 7,5, 15, 22,5 and 30% FVM) and six replications containing twelve pullets per pen. Diets were isoenergetic and isoproteic in initial phase (until 21 days) and final phase (from 22 days until 42 days). The performance parameters weekly evaluated were: feed consumption, weight gain and feed to gain ratio. On economic viability there were used an feed costs sheet and the live broilers price to calculate feeding costs, gross income, gross margin and profitability. After 42 days sixty broilers, two per pen presenting the average pens weight, were slaughtered after four hours of feed withdrawal, for evaluation of carcass, cuts, offal and total fat weights. Their yields related to live weight and carcass weight were calculated. The chest and thigh plus drumstick were deboned and their yields calculated as related to cuts, carcass and live weight. Shinbone color was evaluated using Roche colorimetric Index. Performance and economic parameters evaluated shows absence of FVM effect. Gizzard weight and yield and shinbone color were linearly affected. Meat yield of thigh plus drumstick presented a quadratic response. Cassava by product meal can be incorporated in broiler diets in amount of 30%, without affecting the performance, carcass yield, and economic evaluation.

Foram utilizados 360 pintos de corte machos da linhagem ROSS, num delineamento em blocos casualizados, com cinco tratamentos e seis repetições, com 12 aves cada em um experimento de desempenho. Os tratamentos foram: 0,0; 7,5; 15,0; 22,5 e 30,0% de inclusão da FVM nas dietas calculadas isoenergéticas e isoprotéicas. Os parâmetros de desempenho avaliados foram: consumo de ração, ganho de peso e conversão alimentar. No final do experimento, aos 42 dias foram abatidas 60 aves, sendo duas aves por parcela, representando o peso médio da mesma. As aves passaram por um jejum de 4 horas e depois foram abatidas. Em seguida foram pesadas às vísceras comestíveis (fígado, coração e moela), não comestíveis (intestinos e os resíduos destinados a graxaria), a gordura total (abdominal, da moela e proventrículo) e os cortes (peito, coxa + sobre coxa, asas e dorso + pescoço). Depois foi realizada a desossa do peito e da coxa + sobre coxa para se calcular os rendimentos de carcaça em relação a cada corte. Foi também calculada a porcentagem (%) da carne desossada em relação à carcaça e ao peso vivo de cada ave e as % da carcaça, dos cortes, da gordura total e órgãos em relação ao peso vivo, além das % dos cortes em relação à carcaça. A avaliação da pigmentação da canela das aves foi realizada com o auxílio do leque colorimétrico. Na avaliação econômica se considerou uma planilha de custo dos ingredientes e o valor de venda dos frangos de corte. Para os parâmetros de desempenho zootécnico e avaliação econômica não houve diferença significativa. Já para o peso da moela, a percentagem da moela em relação ao peso vivo e a pigmentação das canelas das aves sofreu um efeito linear decrescente, além do percentual de rendimento da carne da coxa + sobre coxa em relação à carcaça que teve um efeito quadrático.
